When You First Saw me

Tell me.

When did you first see me?

Was it before You knitted me in my mother’s womb?

Was it before that moment of my placement in the darkness that I would be formed?

You have clothed me in flesh and sinews

You have shaped me for purpose and breathed into me

And created my soul.

When was it that You first beheld the essence and vision of my life?

Did I discern or perceive Your Presence?

Did I perceive Your love for me?

I pray for a remnant of memory of those moments before my time began

Before my heartbeat in the place of eternity and before you sent me in time.

Was I but a mist?

An idea just drifting and floating in eternity?

You plucked me out

Decided the year of entry and the day of my presence.

When You first saw me

Did I bow to Your greatness

Or stand in awe of Your faithfulness?

When You first saw me, did I behold Your beauty

And did I lift my eyes?

Regardless, it is You who have created me

and not of myself.

You have set eternity in my heart. and left a void

That only You can fill.

When I first saw You

I came alive on and for purpose.

And I yield…
